- extra virgin olive oil 0.5-1 tbsp

1Prepare: long-grain brown rice or white rice , A pinch or two of kosher salt, extra virgin olive oil .
Stovetop Instructions

1For 1 1/2 cup brown rice: Add 2 2/3 cup water to a medium saucepan. Add in the rice, salt, and olive oil.Β For 2 1/2 cup brown rice: Add 4 1/3 cup water to a large saucepan. Add in the rice, salt, and olive oil.

2Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Gently simmer for 40-45 minutes , or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender but a little toothsome. It will cook a bit more in the next step.

3Take off the heat, but keep covered. Steam for 10 minutes .

4Fluff the rice with a fork. If you have time, transfer the rice to a sheet pan or silpat mat (or two) and spread it out to cool. Label and store the rice in an extra large airtight container or divide in half (about 4 cup each) and store in two airtight containers in the fridge for 4 to 5 days.

1For 1 1/2 cup brown rice: Add the rice and 1 3/4 cup water to the Instant Pot. For 2 1/2 cup brown rice: Add the rice and 3 cup water to the Instant Pot.

2Add the salt and olive oil and stir.

3Seal the machine and select the Pressure Cook setting at high pressure. Cook for 12 minutes (or 15 to 20 minutes for softer rice).

4Allow a natural pressure release for 10 minutes .

5Follow step 4 from the Stovetop Instructions as written above.
