- garlic 3 cloves
- basil 6 sprigs
- parsley 6 sprigs
- salt

1Combine in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat whole tomatoes with their juice olive oil , garlic , basil , and parsley .

2Simmer, uncovered, crushing the tomatoes with the side of a spoon to break them up, until the sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes . Pass through a food mill , and season with salt and pepper to taste.
