  • olive oil 0.33 cup
  • garlic 3 cloves
  • basil 6 sprigs
  • parsley 6 sprigs
  • salt
  • pepper

    Combine in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-low heat whole tomatoes with their juice olive oil , garlic , basil , and parsley .

    Simmer, uncovered, crushing the tomatoes with the side of a spoon to break them up, until the sauce is thickened, about 10 minutes . Pass through a food mill , and season with salt and pepper to taste.
