- dal (split chickpeas) 400 g
- water 1500 g
- turmeric 1 tsp
- salt 1 Β½ tsp
- ghee or oil 3 Tbsp
- cumin seeds 1 tsp
- garlic 8 cloves
- chili powder 1 tsp
- coriander 1 large handful

1Give the dal (split chickpeas) a rinse. Place them in a pan with 1500 ml of water , turmeric powder, and salt . Bring it to a boil and then cook for 1 hour .

2Add 3 Tbsp of ghee or oil to hot a pan. Add the cumin seeds and thinly sliced garlic . Cook for 3 minutes or until golden.

3Add the chili powder and coriander . Stir through and then add the dal. Cook for 2 minutes .

4I like to serve mine with onion and pea pulao. Time to tuck in!
