- long-grain white or brown rice 1 Β½ cup
- kosher salt ΒΌ tsp
- extra virgin olive oil 1 tsp

1Prepare: long-grain white or brown rice , kosher salt , extra virgin olive oil .
STOVETOP INSTRUCTIONS FOR WHITE RICE

1Add 2 1/4 cup water to a medium saucepan and stir in the white rice, salt, and olive oil, if using. Stir to combine.

2Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Simmer until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender, 7 to 12 minutes.

3Take off the heat, but keep covered to steam for 10 minutes .

4Fluff rice with a fork. Allow to cool a bit, then store in a labeled airtight container in the fridge for 4 to 5 days.

1Add 2 2/3 cup water to a medium saucepan and stir in the brown rice, salt, and olive oil, if using. Stir to combine.

2Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover. Gently simmer for 40-45 minutes , or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender but a little toothsome. It will cook a bit more in the next step.
