🥘 Ingredients
- vegetable oil 1 tbsp
- onions 1 ½ cups
- salt ¼ tsp
- garlic 2 cloves
- udon noodles 2 packs
- miso paste 1 ½ tbsp
- soy sauce 1 tbsp
- brown sugar ½ tbsp
- water ¼ cup
🍳 Cookware
- frying pan
- large pot
- small bowl
- frying pan

1In a frying pan over medium heat, warm vegetable oil and add onions . Season with salt and, if using, garlic . Cook, stirring occasionally, until deeply caramelized, about 15 minutes .

2In a large pot , bring water to a boil and cook udon noodles until just tender, then drain and set aside. In a small bowl , whisk together miso paste , soy sauce , brown sugar , and water until smooth. Pour the sauce into the frying pan with the onions and add the noodles, tossing to coat and heat through, about 2 minutes .
