1Preheat the oven to 375°F. Place the peeled, sliced apple in a large bowl. Combine sugar and ground cinnamon . Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar over the apples and toss to coat. Transfer to a greased 13x9-inch baking dish.

2In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour , brown sugar , quick-cooking oats , baking powder , ground nutmeg and the remaining ground cinnamon . Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Sprinkle the topping over the apples. Bake the apple crisp until the apples are tender, 50 to 60 minutes .

4Serve it warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.
