  • butter 1 pound
  • sugar 2 cups
  • eggs 6
  • flour 6 cups
  • anise seed 5 tablespoons

    Soften butter until very soft.

    Mix sugar and butter.

    Add eggs and mix well.

    Add flour and anise seed mixing well.

    Stand in a cold place overnight.

    Roll to about 1/8 inch thick on well floured board. Use about 1/6 of dough at a time.

    Cut into circles or shapes.

    Use un-greased pan , bake in oven at about 350 to 375 degrees F until golden brown.

    For plain cookies, use brandy in place of anise seed.
