🥘 Ingredients

  • beef sirloin tip roast 3 to 4 pounds
  • all purpose flour 2 tablespoons
  • shortening 2 tablespoons
  • salt 2 teaspoons
  • pepper ¼ teaspoons
  • onion 1 medium
  • bay leaves 2
  • clove garlic minced 1
  • hot water ½ cup
  • small onions peeled 8
  • medium carrots pared 8
  • small potatoes pared 8
  • salt 1 ½ teaspoons

    Sprinkle one beef sirloin tip roast lightly with all purpose flour and rub in.

    In Dutch oven , brown slowly on all sides in shortening .

    Season with salt and pepper .

    Add onion sliced, bay leaves , clove garlic minced , and hot water .
  5. 5
    Cover and cook in moderate oven at 350 degrees F about 2 hours or until meat is almost tender.

    Add small onions peeled , medium carrots pared , and small potatoes pared .
  7. 7
    Sprinkle vegetables with salt .
  8. 8
    Cover and cook 1 ½ hours or until meat and vegetables are tender.
