🥘 Ingredients
- olive oil ¼ cup
- cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
- yellow onion 1
- garlic 5 cloves
- ginger 1 inch
- cayenne pepper ¼ teaspoon
- coriander powder 2 teaspoon
- cumin powder 1 teaspoon
- turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
- salt ½ teaspoon
- garam masala 1 teaspoon
- roma tomatoes 2
- chickpeas 2 cans
- baking soda ¼ teaspoon

1heat olive oil over medium high heat. Add cumin seeds and one chopped yellow onion . Fry until golden

2Mince garlic and ginger , add to the pan and saute for 2-3 minutes, until the raw smell goes away

3add cayenne pepper , coriander powder , cumin powder , turmeric powder , salt and garam masala . Stir a bit to mix well

4chop and add the roma tomatoes and saute another 3 minutes.

5drain and rinse the chickpeas . Add to the pot along with two cups of water. You can also add baking soda here to help the chickpeas get extra soft.

6reduce the heat to medium, cover and cook for 30 minutes. serve over rice and top with cilantro
