🥘 Ingredients
- long-grain rice 1 cup
- olive oil ¼ cup
- onion 1
- garlic 3 cloves
- water 2 cups
- salt ¼ tsp
- cilantro (optional)
🍳 Cookware
- colander
- medium-sized pot
- fork

1Rinse the long-grain rice in a colander under cold water.

2Add the olive oil to a medium-sized pot on medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add the finely diced onion and minced garlic . Sauté for 4 minutes , stirring constantly.

3While that is cooking, boil 2 cups of water (or heat up a tea kettle).

4Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir for 2 minutes .

5Now add the boiling water and salt . Reduce heat to simmer and cook the rice, covered, for 20 minutes .

6Turn off the heat and remove the pot's lid. Let the rice sit for 5 minutes then fluff with a fork .

7Optionally top the rice with fresh chopped cilantro (optional) and serve.
