- cast-iron pan
- high-speed blender

1Add the tomatillos , jalapeños , garlic , and onion to a dry cast-iron pan . Place the pan over medium-high heat and toast the vegetables until blackened on all sides, about 15 minutes .

2Transfer to a high-speed blender and add the cilantro , salt , and 1/2 cup water and blend until smooth.

3Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
