  • dried shiitake mushroms 4
  • bouillon cube 2
  • hot water Β½ cup
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • five spice powder 1 tsp
  • oil 0.33 cups
  • galangal 1 inch
  • shallot 1
  • navy beans 1 can
  • sweet chili sauce 2 tbsp
  • dark chinese vinegar 2 tbsp
  • sichuan peppercorn 4 tsp

    Use a mortar and pestle to grind the dried shiitake mushroms and bouillon cube . Add them to hot water , along with the sugar , five spice powder .

    While that mixture is soaking, heat up oil . Fry galangal and shallot . Then add navy beans , sweet chili sauce , dark chinese vinegar , and sichuan peppercorn . Heat until thickened.
