🥘 Ingredients
- dried great northern beans 16 oz
- bean juice 2 cups
- vegetable broth 2 cups
- onion 1
- garlic 4 cloves
- jalapeno pepper ½
- green bell pepper 1
- salt 1 tsp
- tomato paste 6 oz
- molasses ¼ cup
- brown sugar ¼ cup
- yellow mustard 1 Tbsp
- apple cider vinegar 1 tsp
- ground pepper ¼ tsp
- chipotle chili powder ¼ tsp
- chipotle in adobo (alternative) 1 tsp

- crock pot (optional)

1Soak dried great northern beans overnight in several inches water.

2Drain and rinse beans next morning.

3Add enough water to cover and bring to a boil.

4As soon as the beans begin to boil, remove from heat and cover.

5Let rest 30 minutes .

6Drain and rinse beans, reserving 2 cups bean juice .

7Add beans back into pot, with 2 cups bean juice.

8Add vegetable broth , diced onion , garlic , jalapeno pepper , finely diced green bell pepper and salt .

9Bring to a boil again and simmer on low for 1 hour .

10Add mixture to crock pot (optional) .

11Add tomato paste , molasses , brown sugar , yellow mustard , apple cider vinegar , ground pepper , and chipotle chili powder or chipotle in adobo (alternative) and slow cook on low 2 to 4 hours .
